THREE disgruntled members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) surrendered Friday, July 16, to government authorities in Maguindanao, the military reported.

Lieutenant General Corleto Vinluan, Jr., commander of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said the three surrendered to the 57th Infantry Battalion and handed over one M1 Garand rifle with one clip and seven rounds of ammunition, one Carbine rifle with one magazine and fourteen rounds of ammunition, and one caliber .45 pistol with one magazine and seven rounds of ammunition.

Colonel Eduardo Gubat, commander of the 603rd Infantry Brigade, did not release the identities of the BIFF surrenderers for security reasons, except to say they belong to the BIFF-Bungos faction.

“The three revealed that they are not satisfied with the method of administration of their leaders,” Gubat said.

He said they are currently undergoing custodial debriefing at the 603rd Infantry Brigade Tactical Command Post in Sitio Iking in Romongaob village, South Upi, Maguindanao.

He attributed the successful surrender of the three BIFF members to the efforts of the 57IB and the intelligence units.

Major General Juvymax Uy, commander of Joint Task Force -Central, commended the troops for this accomplishment.

Meanwhile, Vinluan called on the remaining BIFF members to come out and surrender.

“Rest assured that we will assist them in their reintegration,” Vinluan said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
