GOVERNMENT operatives arrested a drug watchlisted suspect and seized P1,020,000 worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation early Tuesday, November 16, in Zamboanga City.

Police Colonel Rexmel Reyes, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested suspect as Asar Sammang, 23, a resident of Recodo village, west of Zamboanga City.

Reyes said Sammang was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 7 a.m. Tuesday, November 16, at Josephine Silos Drive in San Jose-Cawa-Cawa village.

Confiscated from Sammang were 150 grams of substance believed to be shabu packed in three heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth P1,020,000, boodle money, marked money, a pair of shoes and two plastic bags.

He said the three packs of shabu seized from Sammang were wrapped with face masks and packaging tape and placed inside a pair of shoes.

He said Sammang was arrested in joint operations by operations of the ZCPO's Station 7, City Drug Enforcement Unit, and Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Unit.

He said the suspects were detained at ZCPO's Station 7, while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against him. (SunStar Zamboanga)
