FORTY farmers attended the one-day Swine Raising orientation seminar the Department of Agriculture (DA) conducted in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur.

Conducted through DA’s Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) program, the orientation seminar was held Thursday, November 4, in Mate village, Tigbao.

The orientation seminar involved lectures on the fundamentals in swine production management, farm management, selection of breeder stocks, and African Swine Fever (ASF).

Also discussed during the seminar were the production and usage of economical feeds, financial capability, and the present swine industry and consumer situation.

Algie Rivera and Juneven Malalis of the DA-Dumalinao Swine Breeding Center served as the resource speakers of the orientation seminar.

DA Regional Executive Director Rad Donn CedeƱo said he was much delighted by the farmers’ active involvement and participation in the training.

The DA also earlier conducted goat production training for the three Indigenous Peoples Organizations in Naga, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The training was aimed to enhance the farmers’ knowledge and skills in sustainable goat production. (SunStar Zamboanga)
