THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Zamboanga Peninsula has deployed 95 lady patrollers in the different parts of the region to conduct community-oriented policing.

PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula covers the provinces of Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga Sibugay, and the cities of Isabela and Zamboanga.

Police Brigadier General Franco Simborio, PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula director, said the deployment of the lady patrollers is in-line with PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula’s “Operations Plan (Oplan) Mujeres.”

Simborio led the send-off ceremony Saturday, December 11, held at Camp Colonel Romeo Abendan, home of the PRO-Zamboanga Peninsula headquarters in Mercedes village, Zamboanga City.

Simborio explained that Oplan Mujeres is a program of his command wherein policewomen, who finished Rifle Marksmanship Training, are to be deployed in their various areas of responsibility to conduct police visibility and beat patrol.

“It is intended to showcase the skills and strength of policewomen breaking gender stereotypes and discrimination, proving that women can also perform tasks that men do,” Simborio said. (SunStar Zamboanga)
