THE Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Barmm) has hired 294 new teachers for the province of Sulu.

Kiram Irilis, Sulu Schools Division superintendent, said that 183 of the 294 newly-hired teachers are for elementary, 103 junior high school, and eight for the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

Irilis reminded the newly-hired teachers to do their duty with diligence as they are now part of the "moral governance" advocacy of the regional government.

Irilis said the newly-hired teachers took their oath before Barmm Member of Parliament Sahie Udjah in a ceremony held Saturday, January 8, at the Sulu National High School.

The new teachers immediately underwent orientation to get accustomed to their respective duties and responsibilities.

Udjah, in his address to the new teachers, highlighted the Bangsamoro Act 70, otherwise known as the Bangsamoro Education Code (BEC), an act providing for the establishment, maintenance, and support of a complete and integrated system of quality education in the Bangsamoro.

"This act embodied our aspiration for the Bangsamoro children to have a bright future which is an upshot of a quality education," Udjah said.

He said the new teachers are now part of the sector of Barmm who will provide bright future to the children in the region. (SunStar Zamboanga)
