PERSONNEL of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA)-Zamboanga Peninsula have experienced for a day the life of a rice farmer -- knee-deep in a paddy, woven hats as shield on heads, and raking mud through water.

The activity, initiated by NIA acting Regional Manager Salome Naragas Layasan, was held Wednesday, January 12, in Tawagan Norte village, Labangan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Layasan said he initiated the activity to give honor to the local rice farmers.

Layasan said it was also aimed to give its personnel the opportunity to understand better their work in NIA and the experiences of their clients.

The activity was participated by the NIA-Zamboanga Peninsula and Zamboanga del Sur IMO management, section, unit heads, and select staff. (SunStar Zamboanga)
