THE Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) has conducted information campaign on ENR Laws in Zamboanga del Sur to gain the support of the residents in the protection of the environment.

Rosevirico Tan, DENR regional information officer, said the information campaign was conducted by the Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) of Guipos, Zamboanga del Sur in Balongbalong village, Pitogo municipality.

Tan said the campaign held last week was part of the lined-up activities of Cenro-Guipos in line with the celebration of 2022 Philippine Earth Month this April.

Tan said the Cenro-Guipos personnel presented and discussed environmental laws, specifically on those that pertains to the cutting of trees, transporting forest products, chainsaw registration Act, as well as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.

"These topics were discussed to raise awareness to the public and in order to mobilize our citizenry in the protection and conservation of our environment and natural resources," Tan said.

He said the Cenro-Guipos also included in the information campaign the Gender and Development (GAD), where specific law on sexual harassment or the "Bawal Bastos Bill" was highlighted.

He said various activities that will further engage the public in observance of this celebration will still be conducted throughout the month such as Clean-ups, Information, Education and Communication campaigns and many others.

The DENR urged the public to join in any environmental activities in their localities for this celebration and together let us "Invest In our Planet." (SunStar Zamboanga)
