THE Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) is creating programs to continuously enhance the knowledge and skills of marine troops.

Major General Nestor Herico, PMC commandant, made the announcement in his visit Friday, April 1, to the headquarters of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) at Camp Basilio Navarro, Zamboanga City.

Herico, a ZamboangueƱo, also expressed his appreciation to Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario, Jr., Westmincom chief, for the support extended to the PMC.

Herico and Rosario talked about the importance of integrating marines in the conduct of combat and non-combat operations in the joint area of operation of Westmincom.

Rosario told Herico that the fundamental advantage the marine troops provide is integral to the mission accomplishment of Westmincom.

During his arrival, Herico was welcomed with company-sized military honors rendered by the officers and personnel of Westmincom.

Rosario then welcomed Herico at the Laong Laan Hall located at Camp Navarro, Zamboanga City.

Herico assumed as the 34th commandant of the Philippine Marine Corps on February 21, 2022.

He is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Maringal” Class of 1988. (SunStar Zamboanga)
