AUTHORITIES have arrested five people and seized over half-a-million worth of illegal drugs and firearms and explosives in separate anti-drug operations in the region, the police reported Wednesday, 2022.

Police Major Shellamie Chang, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Edris Omar Mohammad Abdurahman, 33; Julius Jose Pasco Uyog, 42; Rommel Mantiza Requillas, 35; Mary Joy Gumabras Jailani, 42; and Ruel Valencia Oro, 35.

Chang said Abdurahman was arrested in an buy-bust operation around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, along the national highway in Poblacion village, Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte.

Confiscated from Abdurahman were some five grams of suspected shabu worth P32,500 and P500 marked money.

Chang said that Uyog and Requillas were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Purok Mangga in Tuburan village, Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur.

Seized from the two were some 15 grams of suspected shabu worth P102,000, two caliber .45 pistols with ammunition, two rifle grenades, a sling bag and other illegal drug paraphernalia and P500 amrked money.

Jailani was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 7:50 a.m. Tuesday at Purok 3 in Sangali village, this city, according to Chang.

She said that Jailani yielded some 50 grams of suspected shabu worth P340,000, a smartphone, and one P500 marked money.

She said that Oro was arrested in possession of some P47,600 worth of suspected shabu in an buy-bust operation around 9:48 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, in Barra village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Also seized from Oro, who name is in the watch list of the police, were P1,000 marked money and other personal belongings.

Chang said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
