Police Colonel Richard Verceles, operations chief of the Area Police Command-Western Mindanao, identified the Abu Sayyaf surrenderers as Samir Baddiri Undali; Eddie Anuddin Antuyan; Moh. Marvie Mauldani Bahjin; Satrina Gappal; Walda Misuari Basser; and Sirad Aidarus Jumadil.
Verceles said they voluntarily surrendered to the 84th Special Action Company (84SAC) around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, September 1, at Camp Julasirim Kasim in Asturias village, Jolo, Sulu.
Verceles said the surrender of the six Abu Sayyaf bandits was facilitated jointly by the 84SAC, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency, and Military Intelligence Group through the SAF Cares Program, a soft approach for counterterrorism.
The SAF Cares Program is designed to promote peacebuilding and socio-economic development in local communities where Special Action Force (SAF) units are deployed. (SunStar Zamboanga)
