A PUBLIC school teacher and a businessman were arrested in separate anti-drug operations in Zamboanga del Norte and Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Thursday, December 15, 2022.

Police Brigadier General Neil Alinsañgan, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, identified the arrested teacher as Ariel Corda, 34, and businessman Carlos Ramos, 62.

Alinsañgan said Corda was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, in Purok 2, San Jose village, Kalawit, Zamboanga del Norte.

Alinsañgan said seized from Corda were some eight grams of suspected shabu packed in 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets worth P54,400, two identification cards, a plastic bag, a wallet and P500 marked money.

He said Ramos was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 14, in Purok Citrus, Poblacion village, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Alinsañgan said recovered from Ramos were some 1.029 grams of suspected shabu packed in five plastic sachets with P7,000, a coin purse, P660 in different denomination and P500 marked money.

He said the two arrested suspects were detained while formal charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (SunStar Zamboanga)
