THE Office of the Community Environment and Natural Resources (OCENR) has launched the Plastic for Rice Program in celebration of Earth Month 2023.

The program, initiated by Mayor John Dalipe, involves dry plastic waste that will be exchanged for rice.

The program runs for three Saturdays. It kicked off on Saturday, April 15, and will continue on April 22 and 29 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to all residents of the city.

City Hall Information Office said in a statement that the exchange of plastic waste will be done in the village hall of any of the following villages—Ayala, Sangali, Guiwan, Tugbungan and Talon-Talon.

Dalipe, who spearheaded the launching of the program in Ayala and Tugbungan, urged the residents of the city to actively participate in the campaign and help protect the environment. (SunStar Zamboanga)
