AUTHORITIES arrested a high-value individual (HVI) suspect and seized some P8.8 million worth of illegal drugs in an anti-drug operation in Zamboanga City, the police reported Friday, August 18, 2023.

Police Colonel Alexander Lorenzo, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) director, identified the arrested HVI suspect as Adus Aming, 43, a native of Siasi, Sulu.

Lorenzo said Aming was arrested in an anti-drug operation around 1:12 p.m. Friday, August 18, in Sitio Caragasan, Maasin village, west of Zamboanga City.

He said seized from the suspect were more or less 1.3 kilograms of suspected shabu packed in two large and six medium sizes heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets worth P8,840,000, two bundles of boodle money topped with two genuine P500 marked money.

Lorenzo said the arrested suspect was detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against him.

He said the suspect is being investigated to determine the extent of his illegal drug operation in Zamboanga City.

The anti-drug operation was jointly launched by units under the ZCPO, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, and other police units tasked to run after drug personalities. (SunStar Zamboanga)
